The SDSU Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College Intersegmental Student Housing program is a joint housing initiative between SDSU Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College. The residential building, named Calexico Commons, is located on the university’s Calexico campus and will serve up to 80 students from both institutions. This shared residential community brings SDSU Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College students together in one location, expanding access to local higher education opportunities and supporting their individual academic journeys in the Valley.

Advantages of Student Living

students at table studying

Living in a dedicated student community offers more than convenience. It provides a supportive environment that helps students succeed academically and personally. SDSU Imperial Valley students benefit from being within walking distance to their classes, while Imperial Valley College students have access to nearby transit for a convenient commute.

Compared to students who live off campus, those who live in student housing are more likely to:

  • Earn higher grade-point averages (GPAs)
  • Take more units
  • Graduate sooner
  • Stay connected to campus life
  • Build meaningful friendships

When living alongside other students, it is easier to stay involved, motivated and focused on your academic success.
