Advantages of Student Living

Living in a dedicated student community offers more than convenience. It provides a supportive environment that helps students succeed academically and personally. SDSU Imperial Valley students benefit from being within walking distance to their classes, while Imperial Valley College students have access to nearby transit for a convenient commute.

Compared to students who live off campus, those who live in student housing are more likely to:

  • Earn higher grade-point averages (GPAs)
  • Take more units
  • Graduate sooner
  • Stay connected to campus life
  • Build meaningful friendships

When living alongside other students, it is easier to stay involved, motivated and focused on your academic success.

Beyond your apartment, the community offers an outdoor shared courtyard, on-site laundry facilities and controlled access with perimeter fencing to support your safety. SDSU Imperial Valley Student Housing is supported by 24/7 patrol services. Officers conduct regular patrols of the campus and surrounding areas and are available to respond to concerns at any time. In addition, the Calexico Police Department is located about 0.2 miles from campus, providing close proximity to local emergency services for added peace of mind.

A community manager lives on site to provide guidance and address concerns, helping create an environment where you feel supported and at home.
