The minor in Social Work consists of 24 units to include:
- PSY 101– Introductory Psychology (3 units)F
- SOC 101– Introductory Sociology: The Study of Society (3 units) F
- SWORK 110– Social Work Fields of Service (3 units) F
- SWORK 120– Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare (3 units)S
- SWORK 350P– Cultural Pluralism (3 units)S
- SWORK 360P– Perspectives on Human Behavior and the Social Environment (3 units)F
- SWORK 370P– Social Policies and Social Issues (3 units)S
- Three (3) units elected from one of the following:
- SWORK 430U– Alcohol and Other Drug Problems: Prevention and Intervention (3 units)F
- OR enroll in one of the following course offerings at the San Diego Campus:
- SWORK 400P – Social Work Practice: Child Welfare (3 units)
- SWORK 410P – Social Work Practice: Family Issues (3 units)
- GERO 520P – Analysis of Programs for the Aging (3 units)

U Upper division standing required
F Generally offered in the Fall at SDSU Imperial Valley
S Generally offered in the Spring at SDSU Imperial Valley
Courses in the minor may not be counted toward the major, but may be used to satisfy preparation for the major and general education requirements, if applicable.
