Local Scholars Program

Through its Local Scholars Program the Borderlands Institute promotes border-related research that is pertinent to the history of the Imperial, Mexicali, and Yuma Valleys. It supports local scholars who are actively engaged in research that highlights the significance of the U.S-Mexico in the areas of history, immigration, environment, use of Colorado River water, drug culture, literature, art, music, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, geography, psychology, theatre, economic development, and the emerging alternative energy industry.
