Minor in Chicano and Chicana Studies
SDSU Imperial Valley is now offering a new Chicano and Chicana Studies (CCS) minor, available for all undergraduate students. The interdisciplinary curriculum can complement your studies and provide you with the opportunity to explore the history, politics, culture, and ethics of Chicana/o/x-Latinx communities on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Students can also join organizations like the Transborder Scholars Thriving Institute and the Chicanx Sin Fronteras student club, which offer professional and research opportunities throughout the year, including chances to present at regional events and in Mexicali, Mexico.
Studying Chicano Studies can enhance your career by providing a deeper understanding of the cultural, historical, and social experiences of Chicana/o/x-Latinx communities in the U.S. This knowledge builds valuable skills in critical thinking, communication, and cultural competency. It will prepare you to work effectively in diverse environments and address issues of equity and inclusion.
