Traditional Regalia
In observance of tradition, all participants in commencement ceremonies will wear full academic regalia, consisting of a traditional gown with SDSU medallion and a mortarboard with red and black tassel. All master’s degree candidates will wear black tassels. Doctoral candidates will wear gold tassels. Regalia may be purchased online or at the SDSU Bookstore.
Postgraduate candidates
Postgraduate candidates will also wear hoods lined with the university colors of red and black. In addition, colored velvet stripes will indicate disciplines. The hood is worn with the long point of the shell to the rear. SDSU bachelor’s degree candidates do not wear hoods.
GradFest
Full academic regalia for all bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree candidates will be available for purchase at GradFest, April 9th - April 11th next to the Aztec Store. You will also be given an opportunity to donate $10 to the Class of 2024 Endowed Scholarship for students and receive a red and white legacy cord to wear proudly on commencement day. If you are unable to attend GradFest, regalia will be available at the Aztec Store and online beginning April 11th.
