Oreda Chin is the Associate Director of Development at San Diego State University Imperial Valley.  She was formerly the Executive Director of the Imperial Valley Cancer Support Center and possesses more than 40 years of experience in business development, business operations, community outreach, and customer service.

Accomplishments include owning her own business, Chinupbiz, specializing in customer service training, Community Relations and Revenue Generation Director at the American Red Cross, and small business consultant at the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. 

She is the recipient of the San Diego Business Journal’s 2009 Women Who Mean Business award. Oreda was the past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) in San Diego, CA, 2017 Kiwanian of the Year Award, 2018 California's 56th State Assembly Women of the Year Award, 40th Senate District Citizen of the Month in December 2020 and the El Centro Soroptimist Ruby Award in 2020. Ms. Chin also serves on the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board and is a board member of the WU Chapter of P.E.O.

Oreda was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, but moved to Brawley, California in 2015 and now calls Imperial Valley her home. She is the mother of two sons, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her fur baby, Ms. Oreo.
