Henry Villegas, Ed.D.
Dean of Student Affairs
Dr. Henry Villegas has more than 30 years of experience in higher education administration. Prior to his current role as the Dean of Student Affairs at SDSU Imperial Valley since 2021, he previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Development at Indiana State University, the Associate Athletic Director for Student Development at the University of New Mexico, and the Associate Director of EOP & Ethnic Affairs at SDSU.
Villegas received his associate degree in liberal studies from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, a bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education from Indiana State in 1990, his master’s degree in Counseling from Indiana State University in 1992, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of New Mexico in 2016. His research areas include the impact of intentional student support on underserved populations and the application of student development theory in student affairs. A native of San Diego, Villegas graduated from Hoover High School, studied and played college football at Indiana State University, Southwestern College, and San Diego City College. Dr. Villegas is married to Glenda and has a son who is a public school teacher in Memphis, Tennessee.
